Counsellor (Family Planning, Nutrition & Maternal Health Service Delivery)

Urban Health Project supported by UNFPA in Bangladesh is inviting applications from qualified and motivated candidates for the following position.

Position Information

Position Title Counsellor
Duty Station Selected RMG Factories in Dhaka, Savar and Narayanganj
Duration Six Months (Starting from 01 July 2026 to 31 December 2026)

Educational Qualification & Experience

Bachelor's degree or higher in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Nursing, Midwifery or any other relevant discipline from a recognized institution.

Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of three (03) years of demonstrated experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Family Planning counseling, programming or community health initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

CIPRB, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), is implementing workplace interventions to improve the sexual and reproductive health and nutritional well-being of female RMG workers through counseling, coordination and strengthened service linkages at the factory level.

Under the overall guidance of the Project Coordinator – Urban Health and the supervision of the Program Coordinator – SRHR Urban (Program Support), the incumbent will perform the following duties.

A. SRHR & Family Planning (80%)

  1. Provide confidential and informed-choice counseling on modern contraceptive methods including short-acting, LARCs and permanent methods.
  2. Conduct awareness sessions on birth spacing, family planning, contraceptive use and reproductive health.
  3. Support factory health clinics and coordinate with service providers to ensure quality service delivery.
  4. Assist in organizing LARC service camps within the project areas.
  5. Provide information and referral support for STI/HIV, cervical cancer, obstetric fistula, antenatal care (ANC) and postnatal care (PNC).

B. Nutrition Counseling (20%)

  1. Conduct group counseling sessions for pregnant workers on maternal nutrition, healthy lifestyle and wellbeing.
  2. Promote improved nutrition practices and diversified diets, addressing micronutrient deficiencies among female workers.
  3. Facilitate referrals for Antenatal Care (ANC), safe delivery services and other maternal health services.

C. Monitoring & Coordination

  1. Track, monitor and report key programme indicators, including counseling services, referrals, service uptake and outreach coverage.
  2. Coordinate regularly with factory clinics, UNFPA representatives and other relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.

Required Skills

  1. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  2. Good command of Bangla and English (written and spoken).
  3. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  4. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.
