Professor Muhammad Ghulam Rahman


Professor Rahman is the president of the CIPRB since its inception in 2005. He has a keen interest in educational, health and social development of the country. Bangladesh Health and Injury Survey (BHIS) revealed that injury is a major cause of death, disability and morbidity of children under 18 in the country. This has led the researchers to form the CIPRB. Professor Rahman came forward and provided leadership, continuous inspiration and support to materialize the concept of developing the centre.

Professor Rahman obtained his MA in English from Calcutta University in 1958. He chose teaching as his profession and served in different government colleges in Bangladesh. He continued his teaching carrier till his retired as Principal in 1991. He authored a good number of English text books for undergraduate students. He also volunteered as a national executive member of the Society for the Welfare and Education of the Intellectually Disabled (SWEID), Bangladesh.

Dr. Saidur Rahman Mashreky

Dr Saidur Rahman Mashreky


Dr. Saidur Rahman Mashreky, working as Director at the Public Health Science and Injury Prevention department in the Centre for Injury Prevention, Health Development and Research, Bangladesh(CIPRB). Before joining CIPRB he worked for Centre for Medical Education Dhaka.

After graduating in medicine (MBBS) from Rajshahi University, Dr. Mashreky completed his Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Dhaka University. In 1998 he completed post graduate diploma in Medical Education (Dip.Med.) from Dundee University UK. In 2010 he completed his PhD. from Public Health Science department of Karolinska Instituted, Sweden.

Burn, especially childhood burn prevention is his special area of interest. Along with that Child health, child development, injury prevention and medical education are the other areas of his interest. He has developed and implemented childhood burn prevention program for rural Bangladesh.

He has published more than 40 publications in Peer reviewed journals. He is currently a reviewer and editorial board members of number of reputed peer reviewed journal.

Dr Sailen

Dr. Sailendra Nath Biswas


Dr. Sailendra Nath Biswas has completed his graduation (MBBS) in 1990 from Rajshahi Medical College affiliated by University of Rajshahi. Then he completed his post-graduation in Public Health from National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM), Dhaka in the year 2000. He has also completed both Post-Graduate Diploma and M.Sc in Health Economics from the Institute of Health Economics, University of Dhaka in 2002 and in 2003 respectively.

At present he is engaged in teaching Community Medicine since 2009 in a private sector medical college, a 500 bedded tertiary care hospital in a rural set-up.

His areas of interest are prevention of diseases including injuries and accidents, early detection of chronic non- communicable diseases and promotion of health, research and economic evaluation of health interventions.

Dr. Mahfuzar Rahman

Dr. Mahfuzar Rahman


Dr. Mahfuzar Rahman is working as the Scientific Director, UChicago Research Bangladesh, Department of Health Studies, The University of Chicago, Chicago, USA.

He has nearly 20 years of professional experience in the field of occupational and environmental health that includes health risk and exposure assessment, with academic training in Occupational and Environmental Medicine from Faculty of Health Sciences, Linkoping University, Sweden. He is experienced specially in designing and conducting large occupational and environmental surveys, evaluation of health and development programs, and monitoring of outcomes with equity focus and make safe environment and workplace. He has familiarity with the development and public health challenges facing the developing world and contemporary intervention programs.

Mrs Gulshan Jahan

Mrs. Gulshan Jahan is a well known educationist. She did her M.Phil in Education and Research from Dhaka University. Mrs. Jahan is now engaged in teaching in the Government Laboratory School.

Md. Mamun-or-Rashid

Md. Mamun-or-Rashid is one of the widely recognized Finance, Administrative & HR professionals in Bangladesh having 13 years experience in the same field with leading organizations in Bangladesh both as a professional and consultant.

He has completed his B.Com. (Hons) and M.Com in Accounting from National University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM) from BIM. He has completed the CA course from ICAB under Hossen Delwar & Co.
