Centre for Injury Prevention and Research, Bangladesh (CIPRB) with the technical and financial support of Liverpool Tropical School of Medicine (LSTM), UK have been implementing the ‘Making It Happen’ (MiH) Programme (2013-2015) in six districts (Panchagarh, Sirajgong, Sunamgonj, Patuakhali, Bagerhat and Barguna) of Bangladesh. The Line Director, MNCAH, DGHS in collaboration with DGFP has been pro viding all policy support and guidance while Obstetrical Gynaecological Society of Bangladesh (OGSB) is providing technical assistance.
Under this programme, at least 80% of all EOC health care providers of the District Hospital, Maternal and Child Welfare Centre, and Upzilla Health Complexes of 6 districts, and their referral six medical colleges on Life Saving Skills (LSS) Emergency Obstetric Care (EOC) &Newborn Care (NC). A monitoring-evaluation system was established in the intervention districts to monitor progress.
CIPRB has already accomplished the base line survey in all intervention hospitals and training of 731 consultants, doctors, nurse and FWVs on EOC & NC, 10 persons on Course Director Training, and 111 as Master Trainers (TOT). 148 health care providers of 6 districts were trained on monitoring & evaluation and data management.
The programme will increased the availability of signal functions and improved the quality of Skilled Birth Attendance (SBA) and Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) and contribute to reduction of maternal and neonatal mortality in Bangladesh.
