“We should commit for no more home delivery. Our health and family planning department are working together to bring the mothers to deliver at the facility and to ensure recommended antenatal care during pregnancy”- Md. Nur Hosen Talukdar, Director General, Directorate General of Family Planning expressed in a Social Autopsy meeting of a neonatal death.
On 20th December 2014, the autopsy was organized at Jaborhat Union, Pirganj Upazila of Thakurgaon under the Maternal and Perinatal Death Review (MPDR) Intervention of GoB-UN MNH initiative with the technical support of CIPRB and UNICEF, Bangladesh joint partnership. The autopsy identified that the mother had home delivery by untrained birth attendant and antenatal care was not received, following that the newborn died just after the delivery due to birth asphyxia.
Divisional Director, Family Planning, Rangpur Division; Upazila Chairman, Pirganj, UNO of Pirganj, Chairman and Members of Jaborhat Union Parishad, UH&FPO and UFPO of Pirganj, representatives of UNFPA and other Government, NGO and CIPRB Officials were present during the Social Autopsy.
