Every year nearly 400,000 people lose their lives to drowning, making it one of the world’s most common causes of accidental death.
The vast majority occur in low and middle-income countries, with children being most at risk.
In Bangladesh, a staggering 45% of deaths in under-fives are due to drowning.
So now a new project is giving out 80,000 playpens to try to keep them safe at the water’s edge.
