Maternal and Perinatal Death Review (MPDR) intervention in Bangladesh has been proven the potentiality to strengthen health system of Bangladesh. MPDR has already identified all maternal, neonatal deaths and still births from 10 districts of Bangladesh covering around 20 million of population since 2013. The Health Management Information System (HMIS) of Directorate general of health services (DGHS) has already using the death notification data in the yearly local health bulletin of the upazila (sub-district). Health bulletin of 2014 data has shown that maternal and neonatal deaths are reported in the health bulletin at the local level based on MPDR intervention death numbers of 2014 in 70 upazilas of 70 districts which is a combined data from the health department and family planning department at local level. The present data also provides a consistent trends of death pattern and supporting to the health system to improve maternal and newborn health services at upazilas and above.
Thus, MPDR intervention which is conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) under a technical support of CIPRB- UNICEF partnership has shown its strengthen and opportunity to sustain MPDR as one of key indicators to monitor MNH service of the country.
